ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Pocket full of pretty

Advertiser Staff

Girly gifts are way fun during the holidays, with cosmetics companies putting together gift packs and palettes. We found adorable ones at Sephora, MAC, Neiman Marcus, Origins, Macy's and even our neighborhood Long's.

Among our faves: the Quickie Chronicle Minis by Too Faced (Sephora, $15). The compact-size palettes — with a Hollywood vintage vibe — include two eye shadows, a blush and two lip glosses. Choose from three combinations: pretty-in-pink Cupcake, the naughtily nude Starlet and The Temptress, in a passionate plum.

YOU'VE GOT MAIL ...

You've bought the gifts and you're ready to ship them to the Mainland. Before you start packing the goodies, here are some tips from the U.S. Postal Service (visit usps.com/clicknship for more information):

  • Wrap all items separately.

  • Cushion your contents on all sides with bubble wrap or newspaper.

  • Seal all packages with clear or brown packaging tape (not masking tape).

  • Don't use string or wrapping paper on the shipping box.

    FINAL WORD

"When I met John before all this started, he told me he'd seen 'Gladiator' three times. ... And he quoted two of my lines. I couldn't believe Johnny Cash was quoting my dialogue."
