O'ahu roadwork takes a holiday

Advertiser Staff

Most O'ahu highway construction projects will be off the road during the Christmas holiday season, according to the state Department of Transportation. No lane closures are scheduled between Dec. 15 and Jan. 3 on the following state roads:

  • H-1, H-2 and H-3 freeways — except H-1 shoulder improvements, from the Airport Interchange to Middle Street.

  • Kalaniana'ole Highway, between Kahala Mall and Lunalilo Home Road.

  • Kamehameha Highway, from Acacia Road to Valkenburgh Street.

  • Kahili Street/Likelike Highway, from Nimitz Highway to Kamehameha Highway.

  • Pali Highway/Kalaniana'ole Highway/Kailua Road, from Vineyard Boulevard to Kailua — except repaving of Kalaniana'ole Highway, Kailua-bound lanes from Castle Junction to Castle Medical Center.

  • Vineyard Boulevard from Palama Street to Punchbowl Street.

  • Moanalua Freeway.

  • Kahekili Highway.

Lane closures for highway construction projects will resume Jan. 4. Highway work that does not require lane closures may take place during the holiday season. Emergency road maintenance work, such as pothole repair, may also be scheduled.
