Man dies in fall at Waimanu Valley

A Big Island man died yesterday after a fall near a trail in Waimanu Valley. Firefighters and rescue workers, using a helicopter, retrieved the body of the 58-year-old man from a ravine. A relative reported the man's fall at about 8 a.m.

KALIHI

LIBRARY TO CLOSE FOR RENOVATION

Kalihi-Palama Public Library will close Dec. 19 for a disability renovation project. The library's book drop will also be closed.

The library should reopen during the week of Jan. 17, 2006.

Renovation work will include handicapped-accessible upgrades to the library's parking lot, repaving, and the restriping of stalls.

When it reopens, the library will also be open Saturdays.
