High surf closes Kaua'i beaches

LIHU'E, Kaua'i—The Kaua'i County Ocean Safety Bureau is reporting surf of 8 feet to 15 feet on the North Shore of the island, and has posted signs closing the most-used beaches in the area.

Bureau supervisor Kaleo Ho'okano said that currents along the coast are very strong.
