Hearings planned on boating fees

The state Department of Land and Natural Resource will hold a series of public hearings beginning Dec. 12 to review proposed fee increases and annual user fees for state boating facilities.

The rules, as now proposed, will increase recreational mooring fees an average of 25 percent to 40 percent, depending on the harbor.

Here is the schedule of public hearings. Except where noted, the meetings will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

  • O'ahu: Dec. 15 at Kala-nimoku State Office Building, 1151 Punchbowl St., Room 132; Dec. 20 at Jefferson Elementary School Cafeteria and at the Ke'ehi Small Boat Harbor Office; Dec. 21 at King Intermediate School cafeteria, at the Wai'anae Small Boat Harbor Office, and at Hale'iwa Surf Center.

  • Maui: Dec. 13 at Sea Flight Building, Ma'alaea Small Boat Harbor.

  • Kaua'i: Dec. 13, 5 to 7:30 p.m. Chiefess Kamakahelei School Cafeteria, Lihu'e.

  • Big Island: Dec. 12 at the Honokohau Small Boat Harbor Office in Kailua, Kona; Dec. 22 at the State Office Building in Hilo.

  • Moloka'i: Dec. 13, at the DOT Ferry Shelter Building at Kaunakakai Wharf, 3 to 5 p.m.

  • Lana'i: Dec. 15, at Lana'i Public and School Library.
