A man and a woman, both 27, were arrested yesterday after they allegedly tried to pass a counterfeit $20 bill at the Daiei store on Kaheka Street.

Police said the woman approached a store cashier about 1:15 a.m. and attempted to purchase goods with a credit card.

When the card was rejected, the woman turned to the man who gave her a $20 bill, which she handed to the cashier.

The cashier examined the bill and concluded it was bogus.

Police arrested the man and woman for suspicion of first-degree forgery.

While the man was being searched, two glass pipes containing a white residue were found on him as well as two small, sealable plastic bags that also contained a white residue. The man was then arrested for suspicion of third-degree promotion of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
