University of Hawai'i quarterback Colt Brennan made like the movies last night, except for the happy ending.

Despite not being able to keep fluids in his stomach, Brennan had his most prolific statistical game as a Warrior last night, passing for 426 yards and four touchdowns in a 44-41 loss to Boise State at Aloha Stadium.

Brennan, a sophomore, said he vomited "several times" during the game, and received two bags of intravenous fluids at halftime.

"I have a nervous stomach anyway, but it was also really hot out there and I think it got to me," he said.

It didn't help that he wore a long-sleeved T-shirt under his jersey and pads in the first half.

"I thought it was supposed to be rainy and cool, so that's why I wore it," he said. "But it turned out to be hot and so it worked against me. I had to take it off at halftime."

Brennan actually went to the locker room late in the second quarter, and reserve Tyler Graunke had to finish Hawai'i's final possession of the half.

Brennan had a similar vomiting incident in the season opener against Southern California.

"I'm turning into Willie Beamon from 'Any Given Sunday,' " he said of the quarterback in the movie who had a ritual of vomiting before big games.

In any case, it did not affect his performance. Brennan scrambled away from Boise State defenders all game, and completed 29 of 51 passes with two interceptions.

One of his vomiting episodes came in the huddle just before firing a 29-yard touchdown to Davone Bess.

"I think the guys might be getting used to it because they all say 'just don't puke on me,' " Brennan said.

Wounded Warriors: Offensive tackle Dane Uperesa played the entire game despite a sprained right ankle.

"It'll probably be with me the rest of the year, but I have to play through it," he said.

Center Derek Fa'avi left briefly during the second half last night with an injury to his right hand, but he returned to the game.

"There's injuries and pain," he said. "If you're injured, you can't play. If you're in pain, you play through it."

There appeared to be no other significant injuries for UH.

Clock error: Around 40 seconds was lost during the second quarter of last night's game. After Hawai'i defensive end Melila Purcell recovered a Boise State fumble, the clock kept running, despite the change of possession.

The time was never restored, despite inquiries by the Boise State coaches.
