Suspect, 16, arrested for robbery

A 16-year-old boy was arrested yesterday as a suspect in the robbery of an 18-year-old man at a 7-Eleven store in Waimanalo on Sunday.

The man who reported the robbery told police the boy approached him and his friends about 12:45 a.m. in the store parking lot and demanded money. He said the boy then entered his car, took several items and ran away.

Police were called to the scene, found the suspect a short time later and arrested him for suspicion of second-degree robbery.



Surveillance tape leads to arrest

Police yesterday arrested a 31-year-old man wanted in connection with a theft that took place at a Waikiki hotel on July 19.

A 59-year-old man told police he returned to his office, after being away from about 11:30 a.m. until about 7 p.m., to find his laptop computer and briefcase had been stolen.

A check of the hotel's security surveillance tape was made and a suspect was seen leaving the area with the two items.

Police later identified the man and caught up with him yesterday.



Suspect wields bat during assault

A 17-year-old youth was arrested yesterday in connection with a May 29 assault in Pearl City that left an 18-year-old man in serious condition after being hit in the face with a baseball bat.

Police said the injured man's girlfriend, who witnessed the beating, identified the suspect via a photographic lineup.

The suspect turned himself in to police yesterday, was booked for suspicion of first-degree assault and was later released without charges pending further investigation.



Girl, 12, reports being fondled

Police are checking on a complaint filed by a 12-year-old girl who reported being fondled by a 22-year-old man about 11 p.m. Saturday while attending a party in Kapolei.

The suspect was arrested yesterday by patrol officers and police are seeking to charge him with two counts of third-degree sexual assault.
