  • Dr. Sanjay Gupta, practicing neurosurgeon and senior medical correspondent for CNN, will be the keynote speaker at the THIRD ANNUAL STATEWIDE HEALTH POLICY FORUM, offered Oct. 17 by the Hawai'i Uninsured Project. The forum, "HEALTH CARE COVERAGE IN HAWAI'I — TURNING POINT OR TIPPING POINT," is intended to address ways to make healthcare accessible and affordable in Hawai'i. It will offer the latest thinking about the national healthcare environment, the ways national trends will affect Hawai'i's healthcare system, and positive steps taken by businesses in the face of rising healthcare costs.     Two workshops on selling at area farmers' markets will be sponsored 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays, this week and next, by the Hawai'i Farm Bureau Federation. Both are scheduled in the Kapi'olani Community College, 'Ohi'a Building, auditorium 118.

  • Tomorrow: "How to Be a Successful Farmers' Market Vendor," for present and prospective vendors at farmers' and open markets, will cover topics including selection, visual merchandising, pricing and market requirements. It will feature Eleanor Nakama-Mitsunaga, manager of three federation farmers markets; and Ned Yonemori, supervisor for the city's People's Open Markets.

  • Oct. 11: New crops and new marketing opportunities will be the focus of the workshop "What to Grow ... Where to Sell It," featuring buyers and venues for selling agricultural products — and requirements for products, pricing, packaging, delivery and schedules.
