Maximizing a small space can be done — even with style, says interior designer Brian Ogan.

Ogan, who owns the modern furniture designs and accessories Web site www.themagazine .info, offers these tips:

  • Don't clutter walls or shelves with knick-knacks.

  • Arrange furniture so it doesn't block views to windows and doors.

  • Give low ceilings an illusion of height by choosing furnishings that are low and mounting artwork high on the wall.
