TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Related," 8 p.m., WB. This show has no big stars and no big concept. It isn't even sure if it's a comedy or a drama. What it does have is a great producer, Marta Kauffman. She gives "Related" what she gave "Friends" — clever scripts and strong characters, played by likable unknowns. Tonight's hour continues the adventures of these four mismatched sisters. Hyper-responsible Ginnie has trouble dealing with her pregnancy. Irresponsible Marjee is back in her childhood room, driven daft by her dad's fiancee. Obedient Rose, following her passion for theater, is overwhelmed by role-playing with a handsome classmate. And earnest Ann deals with a tough-to-define break-up. Moments here are funny, touching, and plain old interesting.

OF LOCAL NOTE

"The George Lopez Show," 7 p.m., ABC. In an episode titled "George's Dog Days of Bummer," Honolulu bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman plays a bullying biker holding hostage a stray dog George's mom has grown to love.

OF NOTE

"E-Ring," 7 p.m., NBC. This above-average show has swapped time slots with "The Apprentice: Martha Stewart." Tonight, the colonel is preoccupied, so J.T. must figure out how to maneuver Pentagon politics and prevent African genocide.

"Lost," 8 p.m., ABC. Last week, we learned that the underground hatch was set up long ago — with occupants told they must enter a code every 108 minutes. It's all terribly odd — especially since these are the same numbers that have bedeviled Hurley. Tonight, we again visit Hurley's past.

"Helen of Troy," 9 p.m., PBS. As far as anyone knows, Helen — the beauty whose face launched a fierce war — existed only in legend. Still, British historian Bettany Hughes visits the places where a Helen would have lived, and studies artifacts of that world.

"Invasion," 9 p.m., ABC. The storm set loose some lab animals, creating a threat of disease.

"Law & Order," 9 p.m., NBC. In a controversial case, a man was planning on disconnecting his wife's feeding tube. Before that could happen, however, he was killed by a car bomb.
