Robin Campaniano has been elected president of the Public Schools of Hawai'i Foundation, which he helped to establish in 1986.

Campaniano, a Roosevelt High School graduate and president/CEO of AIG Hawaii Insurance Co., will serve a two-year term. He succeeds bank executive Ron Migita as president of the foundation, which raises money for the state Department of Education and supports teachers and schools through its "Good Idea" grant program.

Other officers elected to serve with Campaniano are Keith Nagata of First Hawaiian Bank (executive vice president for administration/finance), Mike Cusato Jr. of The Honolulu Advertiser (executive vice president for special events), Gary Caulfield of First Hawaiian Bank (vice president for programs and benefits), Mark Uranaka of DataHouse Inc. (vice president for membership and public affairs) and Russell Okata of the Hawaii Government Employees Association (secretary).

"When we started the foundation (in 1986), we hoped to model it after the University of Hawai'i Foundation," Campaniano said.

The Public Schools of Hawai'i Foundation has built its endowment to about $1.5 million, Campaniano said.
