Neighbor arrested as robbery suspect

A 22-year-old Wai'anae man was arrested yesterday as a suspect in the burglary of a neighbor's home.

Police said the burglary occurred about 9:20 a.m. Monday and that the homeowner confronted his neighbor yesterday about the break-in. They said the burglary victim told them the neighbor admitted breaking into the home and taking several items.

Police went to the home and arrested the suspect. He was released later without charges pending further investigation.



Boy, 11, threatens classmate with knife

An 11-year-old boy was arrested yesterday after he allegedly pulled a knife and asked an 11-year-old classmate at a Downtown Honolulu school if he would cry if he were stabbed.

Police said a teacher saw the knife and took the offending boy to the school office where he was detained until police arrived. They did not identify the school at which the incident happened.

A police supervisor classified the incident as a case of first-degree terroristic threatening and the boy was arrested. He was later released without charges pending further investigation.



Van stuck in sand turns out to be stolen

Police arrested a 31-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl yesterday after finding them in a stolen van that was stuck in the sand at "Army beach" in Mokule'ia.

Police received an anonymous call about 11:05 a.m. from a woman who reported the van was stuck.

An officer who was sent to the site found the two people in the van and checked its license plate number.

After learning a Kalihi resident had reported the van as stolen, the officer arrested both of the occupants for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.



Man, 20, violates restraining order

A 20-year-old Waipahu man was arrested yesterday in connection with a series of incidents reported by his 21-year-old girlfriend who said the man attacked her Oct. 13.

Police said the woman told them she was sleeping at a relative's home when the suspect broke in, assaulted her and ran away when a neighbor heard her cries for help and intervened.

Police located the suspect yesterday and arrested him for suspicion of first-degree burglary, three counts of abuse of a household member and two warrants accusing him of violating a temporary restraining order stemming from a separate incident.



Man arrested after biting wife

A 34-year-old man was arrested late Monday after his wife told police he bit her in the arm while the two were driving in their car on Monday.

The wife, 32, told police she got into an argument with her husband who then hit her and bit her arm. The woman later sought treatment for her injuries at the Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center, to which police were called.

The husband was later arrested for suspicion of felony abuse of a family or household member.
