UH's Sanders named WAC volleyball player of the week

Hawai'i middle blocker Juliana Sanders today was named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.Sanders, a sophomore from Kane'ohe, hit .439 with a 3.83 kills-per-game average and 2 blocks per game in two matches last week. She had 10 kills and 4 blocks against Utah State on Oct. 20 and 13 kills and 8 blocks against San Jose State on Oct. 22.
Hawai'i moved up to No. 10 in this week's Division I Coaches Top 25 poll.
The Rainbow Wahine, who scored sweeps of Utah State and San Jose State last week, were ranked No. 11 in previous weeks.
Falling out of the Top 10 from its No. 7 spot was Wisconsin, which lost in five games to Michigan Saturday and is now No. 11.
The top six teams remain the same as last week. Nebraska remains No. 1 with 55 first-place votes, followed by Washington, which received the other five first-place votes.
Penn State, Florida, Stanford and Louisville hold down spots Nos. 3 to 6.
UH plays at Nevada on Thursday and at Fresno State on Saturday.
