"Human Trafficking," 6 p.m., Lifetime; concludes tomorrow. This quickly becomes a strong, solid miniseries. It's intelligently written and brilliantly filmed and acted. Mira Sorvino plays a federal agent, battling the growing trend of smuggling young females into the U.S. as sexual slaves. Donald Sutherland is her boss, with Robert Carlyle as a fierce villain. By the end of tonight's opener, you'll care deeply about the characters in this film.

OF NOTE

"Roush Racing: Driver X" debut, 5, 9 p.m., Discovery Channel. Jack Roush has chosen his NASCAR drivers — including Robby Gordon and Kurt Busch — through what he calls the "Gong Show." Now this reality show will follow the process. Tonight, the field is trimmed to 25.

"King of Queens," 7 p.m., CBS. Lou Ferrigno — the large, green "Incredible Hulk" star — guests. Spence invites him to a science-fiction convention.

"How I Met Your Mother," 7:30 p.m., CBS. Four years ago, Ted met his dream girl at a dull Halloween party — and lost her phone number. He keeps returning to the annual party, hoping to find her.

"Las Vegas," 8 p.m., NBC. Danny is becoming suspicious of his new lover, Penny (Rachael Leigh Cook). Meanwhile, Sam wants her brother to end his affair with the casino owner, played by Lara Flynn Boyle.

"Two and a Half Men," 8 p.m., CBS. Charlie figures his new girlfriend (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe of "Nash Bridges") is perfect; Alan thinks she's scary.

"American Experience: Kinsey," 9 p.m., PBS. Here's a rerun of a superb portrait of Alfred Kinsey. A quiet entomologist at Indiana University, he was studying the gull wasp — then began meticulously cataloging the sexual habits of 8,000 humans. The result became a best-seller and stirred debates.

"Medium," 9 p.m., NBC. Allison's dreams have shown a massacre at her office.
