Fire destroys Waipahu home

A fire at 4:30 this morning destroyed an older single-family home on Leowaena Street in Waipahu, but all nine people who were in the home when the blaze broke out including two children escaped unharmed.A preliminary estimate set damages at about $125,000 to the wooden, single-wall structure and $65,000 to the contents.
Firefighters said another eight adults stay at the home from time to time, but were not there during the fire. Adjacent homes sustained about $10,000 in damage.
