Hawai'i-based fishermen rescued off California

Associated Press

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Four fishermen were reported in good condition today after they were rescued from a sinking boat hundreds of miles from shore.

The Coast Guard received an emergency signal yesterday from an emergency beacon started by fishermen aboard the Hawai'i-based boat.

The Coast Guard determined the boat's position and sent a Coast Guard aircraft from Sacramento and the Cape Nelson, a motor vessel. Officials arrived a little more than four hours later and rescued the fishers.

One fisherman reported minor injuries.

The four fishermen are currently on the Cape Nelson and en route to their next port.
