Advertiser Staff and News Services

Dallas-based investment firm L&B Realty Advisors LLP continues to increase its ownership of Hawai'i real estate, adding several properties to its portfolio after buying Kaua'i's largest mall earlier this year.

L&B, which previously bought Kukui Grove Shopping Center, said it purchased the neighboring Kmart-anchored Kukui Marketplace, and invested in Coconut Grove Marketplace on the Big Island and Poipu Shopping Village on Kaua'i.

The company also plans to complete pending purchases of the 250-unit luxury condominium Kapalawi Resort on Kaua'i and a small retail complex in Waikiki called Kala-kaua Retail Center.

MESA AIR FILLS KEY POSITIONS

Mesa Air Group has appointed Greg Stephens as chief operating officer of its new, yet-to-be-named, Hawai'i operation, the airline announced yesterday.

The new interisland operation is expected to inaugurate service in the first quarter of 2006. Stephens most recently has served Mesa as president of its Air Midwest subsidiary.

Additionally, Mickey Bowman was named vice president of scheduling and planning for the new Hawaiian operation.

OFFICE BUILDINGS SOLD FOR $25.5M

A subsidiary of Alexander & Baldwin Inc. yesterday completed the sale of Haseko Center and Oceanview Center, two downtown Honolulu office buildings, for a total of $25.5 million.

The buildings together contain about 183,000 square feet of office space and more than 500 parking stalls. Haseko and Oceanview are on leasehold land owned by three entities.

ISLE TAXPAYERS DUE IRS REFUNDS

The Internal Revenue Service said 599 Hawai'i taxpayers are owed a total of more than $640,000 in unclaimed refunds, or an average of $1,070 each.

Nationwide, the IRS said today that $73 million in tax refunds that were sent to taxpayers this year did not reach the destination. In most cases, the post office returned the checks as undeliverable because the taxpayers had moved. The money belongs to more than 84,000 taxpayers.

To check the status of a refund, call (800) 829-4477 or visit the IRS Web site, www.irs.gov.
