Boater rescued from waters in Kahana Bay

Advertiser Staff

A man was unresponsive as he was taken to Kahuku Hospital today after his boat overturned just off Kahana Bay on Windward O'ahu.

Honolulu Fire Department rescue personnel arrived around 1 p.m. after the man's boating companion swam to shore wearing an inflatable life vest and called for help, said HFD Capt. Kenison Tejada.

The men, both in their 50s, were separated about a quarter-mile from shore after their boat overturned. HFD's Air One helicopter was able to find the unresponsive man and bring him ashore.
