Merry Chrismukkah!

Look what Seth Cohen has wrought: The "O.C." character's interfaith Chrismukkah is poised to attract an even larger number of devotees this holiday season: In an unusual confluence of the calendar this year, Hanukkah begins on Dec. 25. Chrismukkah.com now offers Chrismukkah greeting cards, a gift line, CDs and cookbook. Included in this year's line of interfaith holiday cards is one that features bagels garnished with cream cheese and holly and wishing, "Good cheer with a schmear."

TRICK OR TREAT

STAYING DANDY WITH THE CANDY

For kids, and even many adults, Halloween is all about the candy. Here are some tips from the American Academy of Pediatrics to keep you from a sugar overload this Halloween:

  • Have a healthy meal before parties and trick-or-treating to discourage youngsters from filling up on Halloween treats.

  • Buy nonfood treats to give out, such as markers, erasers, stickers or baseball cards.

  • Check out the treats your child brings home. Though tampering is rare, an adult should closely examine all treats and throw away any that are unwrapped or suspicious.

  • Ration treats for the days after Halloween.
