Chocolate buffet, contest Nov. 12

Emmanuel Episcopal Church, at 780 Keolu Drive in Kailua, will hold its third annual Chocolate Extravaganza at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12.

Dozens of amateur bakers will submit their entries for competition at the all-you-can-eat buffet. Winners will be selected in several categories, including the people's choice award.

There will be a chocolate fountain, live music and a silent auction. Non DeMello from Agnes' Portuguese Bake Shop will demonstrate making a chocolate confection at 7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit Honolulu Habitat for Humanity, Hale Kipa and Emmanuel Church.

Admission: $10 in advance and $15 at the door; free for children 4 and younger.

'LOVE ME TENDER' EVENTS NOV. 18-19

Hawaiian Island Ministries, Honolulu Christian Church and Pearl City Community Church are sponsoring a "Love Me Tender" Women's Conference with Dee Brestin and Kathy Troccoli for Nov. 18-19 at Dole Cannery Ballroom.

Events will be from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 18 and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 19.

The cost — $65 in advance, $75 at the door — will include refreshments, continental breakfast and box lunch. Registration continues until Friday at www.himonline.org.
