GOLF

LEE IN TIE FOR THIRD

Regan Lee fired a 1-under 71 yesterday to move into a tie for third halfway through the TaylorMade-adidas Golf PGA Assistant Professional Championship in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Lee, an 'Aiea graduate who works at Pearl Country Club, is at 1-under 143. He is six shots off the lead of two-time champion Kyle Flinton (68), who went double-eagle, eagle, birdie, birdie midway through a back-nine 29. Flinton holed a 4-iron on the 525-yard 13th hole, then knocked the ball in with his 8-iron on the next hole.

Wind gusts as high as 30 mph at the PGA Golf Club kept scores high, with only six players in the field of 120 finishing under par through two days. Mililani Golf Club's Joey Tadeo (80—156) missed the cut, which came at 153. The 77 remaining golfers play the final 36 holes today.

The winner gets $9,000 and, if eligible, a berth in the 2006 PGA Club Professional Championship next June in New York.
