U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie, D-Hawai'i, said today he would not run for governor next year against Gov. Linda Lingle. At a news conference, Abercrombie said he was honored that friends and supporters had urged him to run, but he decided he wanted to continue his work in Congress.
Abercrombie said he would campaign for the party's eventual nominee and predicted Lingle could be beaten despite high approval ratings and a fundraising advantage. "I think her support is an inch deep," he said.
