Man arrested at church function

A 26-year-old Kapalama man is facing criminal charges after allegedly slapping his wife and daughter and breaking his brother's nose Saturday afternoon during a function at a church on Waiakamilo Road.

Police said the man was attending the church function when he became angered by his daughter and slapped her at approximately 1:10 p.m.

The man then slapped his wife after she tried to intervene and then punched his brother, breaking his nose, when he attempted to calm things down.

Police were called to the church and arrested the man, who was later charged with second-degree assault and two counts of abuse of a family or household member.

Bail was set at $15,000.



Waipahu man allegedly threatens neighbors

A 45-year-old Waipahu man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly threatened to harm three of his neighbors.

Police said the man got into a verbal confrontation with the neighbors about 12:45 p.m. and then threatened to harm two men, ages 38 and 48, and a woman, 55.

Police were called and arrested the man for suspicion of three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening.



Suspect arrested for sexual abuse

A 42-year-old Kalihi man was arrested about 10 p.m. yesterday as a suspect in a sexual abuse complaint involving a 15-year-old girl.

Police said the alleged sexual assault took place in the suspect's car.

He was arrested in a cul-de-sac at the end of Lima Street in Kalihi.



Suspect arrested for unlawful entry

A 34-year-old Waimanalo man was arrested about 9:45 p.m. yesterday after a woman reported seeing the man reaching into her car at her home in Waimanalo.

The woman told police the man came to her door and asked to speak to a woman who no longer lives there. The man left and was walking away when the woman heard a noise, looked out and saw him reaching into her car, police said.

The woman yelled at the man and he ran away, but police arrived a short time later to arrest him for suspicion of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle,



Man flees, woman arrested in stolen car

A 23-year-old woman was arrested early yesterday morning after the car she was riding in blew past a police officer on Kamehameha Highway and Mokulele Drive in Kane'ohe.

Police said the patrol officer clocked the red car doing 75 mph in a 35 mph zone at approximately 2:25 a.m. After police gave chase, the male driver complied with the officer's order to pull over, but got out and ran after the car came to a stop. The officer then saw a woman get out of the passenger side of the car and ordered her to stay put.

A quick check of the car showed the ignition had been pried open and that the car was being operated without a key. The exterior door lock mechanism on both car doors had also been damaged, police said.

The officer checked on the car's vehicle identification number and confirmed it had been reported stolen. He arrested the woman for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
