Ex-UH player to be named men's volleyball assistant

Advertiser Staff

Former University of Hawai'i volleyball player Jason Salmeri will be named the men team's new assistant coach.

Salmeri, who has been serving as a volunteer assistant coach during fall training, will replace UH men's volleyball consultant Carl McGown. McGown was hired as a temporary consultant for the fall semester. He will return to his home in Provo, Utah, after his contract runs out Dec. 7.

The position was vacated when Aaron Wilton resigned as coach in July to pursue a master's degree at Sacramento State.

Salmeri played at UH in 1997 and 1998. He has played professionally in Puerto Rico and Italy.
