Fairs offer Halloween fun for kids, families

Advertiser Staff

Tonight, a number of O'ahu churches are holding Halloween fairs catering to families and children with early bedtimes.

An example is the annual Kapolei Halloween Fair, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Kapolei Middle School. Sponsored by Christ's Church at Kapolei, Hope Chapel Kapolei and New Hope Kapolei, the free event includes games, a climbing wall and a magician.

Others holding free fairs include Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wahiawa Christian Church, Kailua Church of Christ, Calvary Chapel Honolulu, Lighthouse Outreach Center in Waipahu and United Church of Christ on Judd Street. Most begin at 5:30 or 6 p.m.

But if you have a traditional trick-or-treat outing, experts suggest common-sense steps such as wearing costumes that are easily seen and having kids carry ID in case they become lost.
