It was one year ago that extremists committed mass murder at a school in Russia. Tonight, an HBO documentary looks at the aftermath.

TONIGHT'S MUST-SEE

"Prison Break," 7 p.m., Fox. If you missed this show's debut Monday, here's a rerun. "Prison Break" starts with a bad plot idea. An engineer is intentionally convicted so he can help his condemned brother escape. Then it's so tautly written and directed that we're hooked, "24"-style.

"School Siege: Children of Beslan," 5 p.m., HBO. A year ago today, Russians gathered for a Day of Knowledge celebration of the start of school. Then extremists took over the school in Beslan, Russia. Kids and adults were held hostage in a sweltering gym without water. The 57-hour siege ended with gunfire and explosives; 171 children and about 200 adults were killed. This documentary talks to more than a dozen kids, ages 6-12, including one who hoped Harry Potter would come to the rescue. Fantasies faded, that kid says. "We're not the same funny kids we used to be. We're serious now."

OF NOTE

"Joey," 7 p.m., NBC. Joey's timing is bad. He has just agreed to be true to Sarah (Madchen Amick). Now he has a love scene with the seductive Carmen Electra.

"Will & Grace," 7:30 p.m., NBC. Will's will causes troubles. It all starts when Grace has a near-death experience in a jeans boutique. Soon, she's rethinking her own will and asking about his. Meanwhile, Stacy Keach plays an acting coach who has stolen Jack's method.

"Scrubs," 8 and 8:30 p.m., NBC. J.D. has dating woes in both reruns. In the first, he tries to impress a first date, but they end up at the hospital. The place is soon quarantined, leaving people trading stories of first dates. In the second, he's impressed by a bartender but finds more trouble.

"CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," 8 p.m., CBS. A girl is kidnapped from a store parking lot.

"Without a Trace," 9 p.m., CBS. When a suicidal man disappears, Jack sees parallels with his own life.

"ER," 9 p.m., NBC. Morris may seem incompetent, but he's been named chief resident. Meanwhile, Lewis is bitter about not getting tenure.
