University of Hawai'i free safety Leonard Peters and slotback/returner Jason Ferguson are expected to miss the rest of the football season after suffering knee injuries in today's 63-17 loss to top-ranked Southern California.

Tomorrow, both will undergo magnetic resonance imaging — a procedure in which magnetic fields are used to create an image of the body's interior — on their right knees, but UH coach June Jones said he expects them to miss the rest of the season.

Peters, a senior and captain, is considered to be the Warriors' best defensive player. He said he was injured when a player landed on his right knee in the fourth quarter.

Ferguson, a sophomore, is a double-threat as the starting right slotback and returner on kickoffs and punts. He said he was hurt on the opening kickoff.
