Quentin Guevara

Advertiser Staff

Quentin Guevara is a kid who doesn't say much.

"He is a humble, shy non-verbal kind of kid," said his father, Stanley Guevara. "He gets along well with kids very well. But he is not outspoken."

In school, Quentin favors science. The new seventh-grader at Waipahu Intermediate often talks about science, said his father, who is a corrections officer at Halawa Community Correctional Center.

The 12-year-old boy from Waipahu is the oldest child in the family. He has two brothers and a sister.

It was hard for Quentin to be away from them during the tournaments in San Bernardino, Calif., and Williamsport, his father said. But the lengthy trip revealed a softer side his father cherishes.

"When he was up on the Mainland he used to call home and he never talked about baseball or his home runs or his pitching," Stanley Guevara said. "The thing he talked about was his brothers and sisters. I was shocked about that. It was just about family and how is everybody doing."
