Man stabbed by neighbor

Police said a 42-year-old Kalihi man was in critical condition at The Queen's Medical Center this morning after being stabbed by a 39-year-old neighbor.

Police said the two men got into an argument just after midnight at their apartment building in the 200 block of Kalihi Street.

The argument escalated rapidly and one of the men pulled a knife and stabbed the other, police said.

Officers responding to a call from the scene were directed buy a witness to the suspect and arrested him for suspicion of attempted second-degree murder.



Robbed tourists get unexpected help

Two women tourists from the Mainland were aided by a pair of strangers after their rental car was broken into yesterday afternoon at a scenic lookout in East Honolulu.

Polices said the tourists, ages 23 and 26, parked their car about 4:30 p.m., got out and were sightseeing nearby when they heard a commotion in the parking lot.

One of the strangers told the women their bags had been stolen from the car but that a second stranger was detaining two women suspects.

Police were called and arrested the two women, ages 23 and 46, for suspicion of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, a felony.



Girl, 13, says she was sexually assaulted during sleepover

Police are investigating a complaint filed by a 13-year-old girl who said she was sexually assaulted by a 15-year-old boy early Sunday morning in Wai'anae.

Police said the girl and the suspect were taking part in a sleep-over at the home of a mutual friend. The girl approached the owner of the home and reported being assaulted between 4 and 5 a.m.

The homeowner contacted the girl's mother, who then called police, but the suspect left the home before they arrived. The girl was taken to the Sex Abuse Treatment Center for an examination.



Fleeing teens returned to correctional facility

Two 17-year-old girls who left the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility in Kailua without permission yesterday were arrested about 5 p.m. and returned to the facility.

Police said the two girls walked away from the detention center and hid in thick underbrush nearby before walking out to Kalaniana'ole Highway where they tried to hitchhike away from the area.

Two on-duty police officers received a call about the hitchhikers, removed the blue lights from their privately owned vehicles, removed their blue uniform shirts and then went to the area near the youth facility where they stopped and picked up the two hitchhikers, immediately arrested the pair and returned them to custody.



Bomb threat leads to woman's arrest

Police arrested a 23-year-old woman yesterday who allegedly called up a business on Ahua Street on Saturday and told a Freeman Guard dispatcher a bomb had been planted in an employee rest room.

Police were called and checked the area for a bomb but found none.

The dispatcher who took the call told police she recognized the caller's voice.

Based on the information provided by the dispatcher, police located the suspect about 4:30 a.m. yesterday and arrested her for suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.



Man awakes to woman going through wallet

Police arrested a 50 year-old Waikele woman about 4 a.m. yesterday after a 54-year-old man told police he awoke to find the woman going through his wallet. The man told police he argued with the woman and told her to stop, but that she hit and scratched him several times and then grabbed a knife and chased him around after learning he had called police.

Police said the man locked himself in an upstairs bedroom until officers arrived. The suspect left the home before officers arrived but returned later and was arrested for suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening as well as abuse of a family or household member.
