Hawai'i unemployment insurance claims unchanged from year ago

The number of first-time claims for unemployment insurance filed by Hawai'i residents remained unchanged at 1,000 for the week ending Aug. 27 compared with the same week a year earlier, according to data released today by the U.S. Labor Department.

Unemployment insurance claims filed by Hawai'i residents accounted for just 0.4 percent of total claims filed nationally, which was among the lowest of the 50 states. Meanwhile, Hawai'i's unemployment rate of 2.7 percent remains the lowest in the nation.
