Free art exhibit debuts today

Freebie alert, Part I: The Academy Art Center at Linekona hosts several free exhibits this fall, including "Archipelago: Portraits of Life in the World's Most Remote Island Sanctuary," photos by David Liittschwager and Susan Middleton, opening today. The photographers also appear at 6:30 tonight in the Hanauma Bay Theater; parking and entrance are free.

Opening Oct. 5, see "Hawaii Craftsmen Annual Juried Exhibition," and upstairs, "Chanoyu: Ceramic Implements for Tea," a selection of ceramics used for tea from artist Carl Fiber, Ed Higa, Ken Kang, Bob McWilliams, Philip Markwart and Yukio Ozaki. Information: 532-8741.



HEALTH FAIR OFFERS FREE SCREENINGS

Freebies, Part II: From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today on the great lawn of the State Art Museum, find out how your health is holding up at the "State of Your Health" health fair.

Free screenings, one-on-one discussions with health professionals and stations devoted to asthma, behavioral health, diabetes, heart disease, seniors health and Medicare, smoking cessation and exercise will be available for Hawai'i residents who want to take stock of their health.
