FREE CONCERT IN WAIKIKI

Hankering for the soothing sounds of contemporary Island music from the likes of Maunalua, Makana (seen at right), and Henry Kapono? It's free when a monthly concert series kicks off at 5 tonight. The concert in the Hilton Hawaiian Village's Tropics Showroom will be followed by similar free shows mid-month at least through the end of the year. Not up for the drive to Waikiki? DEEP ON THE CORAL REEFS

Fishing for something to feed the brain? Bishop Museum continues its Traditions of the Pacific series tonight with Richard Pyle's lecture on biodiversity of deep coral reefs. His explorations have taken him to some of the world's best deep reefs, off Palau, Papua New Guinea, American Samoa and the South Cook Islands. Poni Kamauu will share a "Moon Chant" describing how phases of the moon affect fish, and will share fishing stories passed down for generations.
