Banking and credit, understanding insurance, retirement, estate planning and legal issues inherent in caregiving are topics included in the series.   • Local technology company Hoku Scientific Inc.'s recent initial public stock offering — proceeds from which will be used for a new 14,000-square-foot production facility in Kapolei — will be the focus of a discussion Thursday before the Hawai'i Venture Capital Association. Speaking with company chief executive officer and founder, Dustin Shindo. Hoku will be producing "membrane electrode assemblies" useful in the fledgling fuel cell market, with possible application in heating systems, telecommunications outposts and automotive uses.
