A 19-year-old man who was badly injured last month while jumping off a large rock on the Hale'iwa side of Waimea Bay died Tuesday at The Queen's Medical Center.

The city Department of the Medical Examiner identified the victim as John Greengrove of Hale'iwa.

Police said Greengrove was injured Aug. 27 and was taken to Queen's, where he was placed on life support.

They said he went into cardiac arrest Tuesday and was pronounced dead at Queen's.

Collision leads to citation

A 39-year-old Kane'ohe woman was arrested last night, just 25 minutes after she allegedly stole her boyfriend's car from his home in Kailua and got into a traffic collision in Kane'ohe.

The boyfriend, 47, called police about 9:30 p.m. to report that his girlfriend of eight years had stolen his car, police said. At 9:55 p.m., the woman was involved in a collision and was arrested near the intersection of Kamehameha Highway and William Henry Road on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, police said.

Arrest stems from crosswalk violation

A 33-year-old woman who allegedly failed to stop for pedestrians in a crosswalk yesterday morning in Waipahu was later arrested on suspicion of operating a stolen vehicle.

A patrol officer noticed a Chevrolet van failed to abide by the new pedestrian crosswalk law and the officer told the van driver to pull over near the intersection of Farrington Highway and Leoku Street so he could issue her a minor traffic citation.

The officer then learned the van had been reported stolen by a car rental company and he arrested the woman, who lives in Waipahu, for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
