Maui's Shayna Miyajima rallied to shoot an even-par 72 yesterday and make the cut in the LPGA Sectional Qualifying Tournament at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Miyajima played the Dinah Shore Course and has a two-day total of 148, which was the cutoff score. Kailua's Bridget Dwyer did not advance to the final two days after shooting a 73 at the Palmer Course for a 149 total.

Seventy-nine players made the cut for the final 36 holes, which will be played on the Palmer course

The leader is 20-year-old Swede Louise Stahle, at 8-under 136. She shot a 66 yesterday at the Palmer Course and is a shot ahead of Japanese 19-year-old Shinobu Moromizato, who carded a 69 at the Dinah Shore Course.

Japanese star Ai Miyazato also shot a 66 at the Dinah Shore Course to move into a tie for 11th place at 142.

The top 30 and ties here and at next month's Florida qualifier advance to the 90-hole LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament, Nov. 30 to Dec. 4, at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The cut will be made after the first four rounds at the Legends and Champions courses at LPGA International. The cut, historically held after 54 holes, will now reduce the field to the low 70 players and ties after 72 holes.
