Police Beat: Infant's injuries investigated

Advertiser Staff

Police yesterday questioned a 41-year-old man and 30-year-old woman about head injuries to a 7-week-old girl.

Investigators said the couple took the infant about 12:10 p.m. to a pediatrician in Makiki for an examination.

While there, the baby began to have seizures and was taken to Kapiolani Medical Center, where doctors found evidence of head trauma.

The man and woman told police the infant had never been in the custody of anyone else but them.

Emergency surgery was performed on the baby, but she had not stabilized as of last night, police said.

Two explosive devices found

Police are investigating a complaint filed by a Kalihi man who said his car and driveway were hit by two Molotov cocktails early yesterday morning.

The man told police he heard a loud crash about 2:20 a.m. coming from the driveway of his home and went to investigate.

He reported finding one Molotov cocktail shattered against the back of his car, although it did not ignite.

The man said he found a second explosive device lying in the driveway with the wick burning although it had not shattered on impact.

The man extinguished the burning wick and called police.

No suspects had been identified as of this morning.
