The Chinatown art gallery/club lounge thirtyninehotel is celebrating its first anniversary with a party at its Lucky Tiger weekly. One of the original Studio 54 DJs, Nicky Siano, takes to the decks, along with DJ Harvey from London. General admission tickets for this 21-and-older bash are $10 advance, $15 at the door. VIP tickets are $20 advance, $25 at the door and include a reception at 8 p.m. with pupu and an open bar.

EXPO: OCT. 7-8

Brides and grooms and guests are invited to walk down the aisles at the World Class Wedding Expo XV, where there'll be information on hotels, reception sites, photographers, florists, musicians, wedding planners, bridal registries, invitations, favors, centerpieces and cake designers. Those planning beyond that big day also have a chance to learn more about finance, real estate, insurance and health services. Fashion shows with music by Arsenio the band happen at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 8. Admission is $6.

Celebrate the opening of Bishop Museum's latest traveling exhibit "Baby Dinosaurs: A Prehistoric Playground" at the next Family Sunday. Interactive activities, entertainment and food booths also are in store. Admission is $3 kama'aina and military, free for museum members and ages 3 and younger. Bank of Hawaii customers and employees get free admission for two with a Bank of Hawaii bank card. The exhibit will be on display Oct. 8-Dec. 11.

FESTIVAL: OCT. 14-16

Gather 'round at the 17th Annual Talk Story Festival, which features eight storytellers for each of three nights. The theme for the first day is Spooky Stories (with an additional late show at 10 p.m.); the second night features Kid Kind Tales; and the festival wraps up with Food for Thought Tales. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is free.

STAGE: OCT. 18-23

One of the longest-running Broadway shows makes its way to Hawai'i after a short tour on the Mainland. "A Chorus Line" features an ensemble cast auditioning for parts in a play while belting out hits such as "I Hope I Get It," "What I Did For Love" and "One." The award-winning musical, with choreography by Michael Bennett and music by Marvin Hamlisch, is presented by Encore Attractions. Tickets are $38-$58.

After taking a break last year, the Gridiron show is back. Presented by the Society of Professional Journalists' Hawaii Chapter, "Gridiron 2005: Return of the Gridi" pokes fun at local celebrities and Hawai'i's political scene with skits and songs. Proceeds benefit the organization's student internships and scholarships. Tickets are $45 and $55.

CONCERT: OCT. 22

Alternative pop/rock group Lifehouse makes its Hawai'i debut fresh from its CD release, "Lifehouse." The band's hits include the most-played radio track of 2001, "Hanging by a Moment," and "You and Me" from "Lifehouse." Building a Better Spaceship from San Diego and Cane Field Heroes from Kaua'i also perform. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 advance, $30 at the door, for 21 and older.
