POLICE BEAT
Cul-de-sac fight leads to arrest

Advertiser Staff

A Monday night argument between neighbors in Makakilo led to one of them being arrested on suspicion of multiple felony offenses.

At about 11:30 p.m., one of the neighbors drove his car to the end of a cul-de-sac on Nohona Place to turn it around.

The car driver exchanged words with the neighbor, who was standing in his own front yard, police said.

The driver, 42, got out of his car but left the door open and the motor running while he got into what police said was a "physical confrontation" with the neighbor, 34.

At one point, the neighbor jumped into the car and drove it about 10 to 15 feet into two parked cars that belong to the other man's sister, police said.

Police were sent to the scene and arrested the 34-year-old neighbor on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and two counts of second-degree criminal property damage.

Counterfeit bill reported in Kalihi

A 47-year-old man was arrested last night after he allegedly tried to use what police described as an "obviously counterfeit" bill to make a purchase at a convenience store in Kalihi.

Police were called and arrested the man about 10:15 p.m. on suspicion of first-degree forgery.

A car and driver that appeared to have been waiting for the man to come out of the store took off without him when officers began arriving at the store, police said.

Man accused of handgun threat

A 37-year-old man was arrested yesterday for allegedly threatening an 18-year-old man with a handgun Monday afternoon in Salt Lake.

The younger man told police he got into an argument with the older man about 2 p.m. in the 4500 block of Salt Lake Boulevard and that the other man took out a black handgun and threatened him with it.

Police caught up with the suspect yesterday and arrested him for suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening.
