BUSINESS BRIEFS
Aquaculture sector holds summit

Advertiser Staff

Members of Hawai'i's aquaculture sector will gather Friday at the Oceanic Institute at Makapu'u point to discuss the future of the industry.

Invitees include farmers, researchers, scientists, aquaculture manufacturers and government leaders. Hawai'i's aquaculture revenue topped $28 million in 2004.

"Hawai'i has been and can continue to be a world leader in aquaculture technology," said Ron Weidenbach, president of the Hawaii Aquaculture Association. "We're hoping this summit will generate a brainstorm of sustainable aquaculture goals and ideas."
