Advertiser Staff

Police believe a 43-year-old man who was arrested early this morning is one of three men who robbed a customer who was walking to his car in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven store in Waipahu.

The robbery victim told police he was returning to his car about 3:15 a.m. when three men approached him. He said one of the men reached into his right rear pants pocket and was attempting to take his wallet when he reached back and grabbed the man's arm to try to prevent the wallet from being taken, police said. At that point, a second man punched him in the lower right back, the victim said.

He told police the two men who robbed him took off on bicycles while the third man ran away.

Police issued an all-points bulletin and officers who were searching the area found a man at Waipahu District Park who matched the description of one of the suspects.

The victim identified the man as one of the robbers and he was arrested about 3:45 a.m. on suspicion of second-degree robbery.
