HAL MARTIN
SEPT. 17, 2005
PO'IPU BAY GOLF COURSE
HOLE NO. 7, 137 YARDS, PITCHING WEDGE
Hal Martin, who turns 66 today, got an early birthday present when he got his ace while playing in the 12th annual Contractors Association of Kaua'i Scholarship Golf Tournament.
Martin, of Kalaheo, Kaua'i, won a Sony DVD Dream Home Theater for acing the hole during the tournament.
"It's a flat hole," Martin said. "I just said 'Get in' and it did."
He said at least one of his playing partners might have been more excited since it was the first time he witnessed a hole-in-one. It was Martin's second ace, his first one coming about nine years ago.
Martin, the owner of Martin Steel Constructors, said he plays twice a day.
"Nine holes in the morning, nine holes in the afternoon," Martin said. "It's good exercise."
