Man struck by city bus while in crosswalk

An elderly man was was critically injured this morning when he was hit by a city bus near the intersection of North School Street and Kamehameha IV Road in Kalihi.According to preliminary reports, the bus was headed east on North School Street about 6 a.m. when it turned left onto Kamehameha IV Road and struck the man, who was in a crosswalk.
The injured man hit his head on the pavement and was taken to The Queen's Medical Center and was listed in critical condition upon arrival.
The west-bound lanes of North School street were closed to allow police to conduct their investigation of the incident.
