Designer wear for plus-size women

A preview of spring styles for plus-size women will be unveiled at Macy's Ala Moana on Saturday.

Macy's at Ala Moana Center is offering a chance to preview the latest spring styles for the plus-size woman from designers who seem to get it right: Eileen Fisher, Style & Co., Charter Club and Tommy Hilfiger, to name a few. The fashion show will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Macy's Special Events room, level 3.

Lina Girl from KCCN FM 100 hosts; Lancôme beauty advisers will help with makeup tips for a professional look. It's free, but reservations are highly recommended: 945-6427.

KAHALA MALL GLAM

The Kahala Mall is bouncing back from its flood with Nouveau 2006 events, including several "Guide to Glam" workshops with fashion and beauty experts from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Hibiscus Lounge (formerly Gap Kids):

  • Today: "Bling for Spring" jewelry trends and how to wear them, hosted by Kulani Fernandez of Reflections of the Heart.

  • Tomorrow: Fashion for all occasions and tips for dressing your best, a practical guide for real women, hosted by this writer.

  • Friday: "Hairstyles," a beauty how-to workshop, hosted by Marsha Nadalin of Marsha Nadalin Salon & Spa. Learn which hairstyle and color flatters your face.

  • April 12: "Makeup Make-over," makeup and skin-care tips that give you the look of complexion perfection, demonstrated by Liz Dahl, a professional makeup artist who works in TV and movies as well as for high-fashion houses.

  • April 13: "All-Access Accessories," hosted by this writer. I'll demonstrate how versatile your look can be with the latest designs in belts, bags, shoes and jewelry.

    WARD CENTERS EVENTS

    From Sunday through April 15, various venues in the Ward Centers will offer spring health and beauty information and events. Among them:

  • Noa Noa will share advice on how to make spring styles and colors work for you. Also, enjoy wine tasting from 6 to 8 p.m. every night that week.

  • Allure is offering complimentary fitting services for spring swimwear, fitness apparel, lingerie and body wear.

  • At Sedona, learn what gemstones are most healing for you. Receive a free birthstone chart that indicates which gemstones to wear for love, health, prosperity and protection. The staff will also teach you to make a customized "healing stone bracelet."

  • Be good to your jewelry this season. Opal Fields offers complimentary spring cleaning and inspection of your jewelry.
