Kamehameha beats Iolani, 9-6

Mitchell Kauweloa drove in three runs as Kamehameha handed Iolani its first loss of the season with a 9-6 victory in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu baseball game at the Raiders' field.

"Every win is a big win in the ILH," Kamehameha coach Vern Ramie said. "There is a lot of parity in the league this year. On any day, anyone can beat anyone. We got a long way to go, but hopefully this is the win that can get us rolling.

Piikea Kitamura batted 2 for 3 for the Warriors (2-3), who scored nine runs on just five hits.

"We got some timely hitting today, that's one thing that we haven't been doing," Ramie said. "We got some two-out basehits today."

Wally Marciel doubled and homered for the Raiders (4-1). Reyn Nagamine batted 3 for 3, and Brett Hasegawa went 2 for 4 for Iolani.

Aaron Fujiki had two RBIs for the Owls, who scored five runs in the top of the seventh.

TJ Esclito doubled and tripled, and Scotty Taleasea drove in two runs for Damien.

Kili Vierra gave up three runs over six innings to carry host Kailua to an O'ahu Interscholastic Association victory.

Preston Nakata, Aaron Kunioka, Patrick Murphy and Kainoa Uemoto each paired hits for the Surfriders, who improved to 4-1.

Gary Nagy and Chico Ramirez each had two hits, and M.J. Sabido drove in two runs for the Red Raiders.
