Fresno State beats Hawaii in baseball, 6-1

Eddie Romero threw 6· strong innings to lead No. 21 Fresno State over Hawai'i, 6-1, Saturday night in Western Athletic Conference baseball at Beiden Field in Fresno, Calif.

Romero (8-1) allowed a run, six hits and four walks with three strikeouts for the Bulldogs (25-10 overall, 6-2 WAC). Brandon Burke and Holden Sprague combined for 2° hitless innings of relief against the Rainbows (25-10, 3-4), who fell to sixth place in the seven-team conference.

The Bulldogs jumped on UH starter Justin Costi for five runs in the first two innings. Christian Vitters had a two-run double in the first following an RBI double by Beau Mills and Kent Sakamoto had a two-run single in the second. Costi (4-1) lasted only two innings, allowing five runs, six hits and a walk with one strikeout.

Tyler Davis allowed a run in six innings of relief for the Rainbows. The only he allowed was a solo home run in the seventh by Ozzie Lewis.
