UH colloquium on Christianities

An upcoming free colloquium on Global Christianities will be held April 13-14 at UH-Manoa, called "Global Christianities in Comparative Perspective: A Colloquium."

The daylong, two-day event begins 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Yukiyoshi Room, Krauss Hall. It continues at 9 a.m. the next day at Imin International Conference Center at the East-West Center. The colloquium brings together scholars and clergy from the Mainland, Japan and Hawai'i.

Parking is available on campus, $3.

THEOLOGIAN TO LEAD CHURCH WORKSHOP

Matthew Fox, a theologian and author, will lead a four-hour workshop, "Spirituality in the 21st Century" at 10 a.m. April 22 at Unity Church of Hawaii, 3608 Diamond Head Circle.

Cost: $45 ($50 at the door), and participants are asked to bring a brown bag lunch.

COUPLE TO SPEAK ON ALS DISEASE

Charlie and Lucy Wedemeyer, frequent inspirational speakers in Hawai'i, will discuss their journey with ALS, or Lou Gehrig's disease, as part of the Waterhouse Lecture Series.

The Wedemeyers' speaking engagements include:

  • 6:30 p.m. April 16 (Easter ) at Wai'alae Baptist Church, 1047 21st Ave.

  • 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. April 23, New Hope Leeward.
