Fresno State pounds UH in baseball

No. 21 Fresno State jumped on Hawai'i early en route to a 13-2 victory Sunday to take 2 of 3 in the Western Athletic Conference series at Beiden Field in Fresno, Calif.

The Rainbows dropped to 25-11 overall and 3-5 in the WAC, while the first-place Bulldogs improved to 26-10 and 7-2.

Andy Underwood (6-2) allowed an unearned run in six innings, giving up six hits and a walk with five strikeouts for FSU. Hawai'i starter Ian Harrington (4-2) was tagged for seven runs (six earned) in 4 1/3 innings.

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back. Brian Lapin, one of three Bulldogs to get three hits, including a three-run home run and had five RBIs. Steve Susdorf and Nick Moresi also had three hits each for FSU.

Matt Inouye was 2 for 4 for UH, the only Rainbow to have multiple hits.

The Rainbows play a nonconfernce game Tuesday at California. Mark Rodrigues will start the game, UH coach Mike Trapasso said.
