Matsunaga announces for 2nd Congressional seat

Advertiser Staff

In a series of announcements around the state today, former state Sen. Matt Matsunaga is declaring his candidacy for the U.S. House seat in Hawai'i's 2nd Congressional District.

Matsunaga joins a growing list of candidates seeking to replace U.S. Rep. Ed Case, who is running against U.S. Sen. Daniel Akaka for his Senate seat.

Matsunaga made his first announcement this morning in Hilo, said Steve Okino, with the Matsunaga campaign. That will be followed by announcements at the Kaua'i County Building at noon, and at the Kuhio Federal Building in Honolulu at 3:30 this afternoon, Okino said.

Four years ago, Matsunaga was a candidate for lieutenant governor.
