Man arrested in alleged baseball bat attack

Police arrested a 25-year-old man yesterday in connection with an incident Sunday night in Waipahu in which the front and back windshields of a car were smashed in with a baseball bat.

An 18-year-old woman and 25-year-old man said the other man reached into the car, retrieved a baseball bat and smashed the windshields.

The woman, who was sitting on the front passenger seat, said she was hit by pieces of flying glass but not seriously injured, police said. When the other man approached the man holding the bat, he was threatened, police were told.

Police arrested the suspect on suspicion of first-degree criminal property damage, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and first-degree terroristic threatening.



Boyfriend arrested after alleged threat, car theft

Police arrested a 20-year-old Kapahulu man early yesterday morning after he got into a heated argument with his 23-year-old girlfriend.

The two were driving home from a bar just after midnight when the boyfriend became angry, police said.

The girlfriend said that once they arrived at the parking lot of their apartment building, the man threatened her with a knife, punched her and took her car without permission.

The woman called police who issued an all-points-bulletin for the boyfriend who was located nearby on Kapahulu Avenue.

He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery, first-degree terroristic threatening and abuse of a family or household member.



Woman reports alleged sexual assault

Police arrested a 51-year-old man in Wai'anae yesterday as a suspect in a kidnapping and sexual assault case reported by a 42-year-old woman.

The woman told police she accepted a ride March 27 from the suspect who said he would drive her to her relatives' house in Wai'anae.

The woman told police the man instead drove her to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her during the drive.

Police said the woman jumped from the moving vehicle when the driver slowed to turn around and was able to walk a short distance to the Wai'anae Police Station to file a report. Police arrested the driver yesterday at the main Police Station on suspicion of kidnapping and third-degree sexual assault.



Woman arrested in alleged shoplifting incident

A 43-year-old woman was arrested at the Pearlridge Center last night after she allegedly took several items from Macy's department store without paying for them and fought with store security workers while trying to escape with the merchandise, police said.

The woman was detained at the store until police arrived to arrest her about 8:50 p.m. on suspicion of second-degree robbery.



Man arrested in alleged sexual assault of teen

A 30-year-old Red Hill man was arrested yesterday as a suspect in a sexual assault case involving a 15-year-old girl. The man is alleged to have had what police described as "inappropriate sexual contact" with the girl at about 1 a.m. Friday.

Police arrested the man at his Ala Kapuna Street home on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault.
